If you're looking to operate drones commercially in the United States, obtaining your FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate is essential. This comprehensive guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

What is Part 107?

Part 107 is the FAA regulation that governs the commercial use of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) weighing less than 55 pounds. It establishes the requirements for remote pilot certification and operational limitations.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
  • Be in a physical and mental condition to safely operate a small UAS
  • Pass the initial aeronautical knowledge test

Study Materials

The FAA provides free study materials including the Remote Pilot Study Guide and practice tests. Our UAV Training Program also offers comprehensive preparation courses to help you succeed on your first attempt.

Taking the Test

The Part 107 knowledge test consists of 60 multiple-choice questions covering topics such as airspace, weather, aircraft performance, and regulations. You need a score of 70% or higher to pass.

After Certification

Once certified, you'll need to complete recurrent training every 24 months to maintain your certificate. Stay updated with regulation changes and continue developing your skills through ongoing education.
